Learning Champions Project
The Learning Champions project has established itself as a successful flagship project meeting an identified need within the Learning Net and its host organisations to provide dedicated support and training to volunteers. All key fund targets for the past year were exceeded and a successful audit was carried out by the funders. We currently have over a hundred Learning Champions and continue to utilise their support in the vol/com sector and within the NLN. We are closely involved with the Aim Higher project and a number of Learning Champions also volunteer as Parent Ambassadors.
“I was not sure what I was letting myself in for when I signed up as a Learning Champion, but I really enjoyed meeting other volunteers and taking advantage of the training on offer. A year on and I am much more confident - I have been involved with volunteering duties during Freshers' Week at University and am about to begin my degree course and looking forward to a totally new direction in life. I have really enjoyed being a Learning Champion and supporting others to get back into education - it really is never too late!”

Celebration Event
A Learning Champions Celebration Event took place at The Core in Barnsley on 31st March 2010. At the event, attended by 25 people, volunteers reflected on the valuable contribution that they have made to the work of the Neighbourhood Learning Net and the positive impact they have had on their communities.
