Our Staff

Iris Howard - Chief Executive
iris@bacp.org.uk
My background comes from a varied career working in the public, private and voluntary and community sector. I worked in the Training and Development Department of Barnsley MBC working with the multi national team which supported new investment companies coming into Barnsley with recruitment, training and qualifications. This was during the 80’s when Barnsley went through the miners strike and then suffered massive unemployment. During this time I became a Graduate of the Institute of Personnel Management. I have also worked for the Council for Voluntary Services and the Barnsley Co-operative Society and other private sector companies. I joined BACP in 2002 and have led the organisation successfully during the last 8 years through a number of projects. I have lived in Barnsley all my life and I am dedicated to supporting its people and communities.

Julie Hallsworth - Finance, Monitoring & Administration Officer
julie@bacp.org.uk
I manage all the finance for BACP which includes our projects. I have worked in the private sector for many years before moving to the banking sector for a brief period of time. In 2004 I started working in the Voluntary & Community/Third Sector on a project supporting a local Community Partnership and the community of Worsbrough.
I have worked in finance for 20 years and during this time I studied for the finance
qualification AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), I have recently completed a BA degree in Business & Management Studies.
Alison Ward - Administration Officer
alison@bacp.org.uk
I work within the Core Team and provide the CRB Checks service for the Association, providing administration assistance for our partnerships and projects. We have had Umbrella Body status with the CRB for over 5 years and offer a one stop shop for companies who need to make a safer recruitment decisions. The service has grown from strength to strength and we now serve over 200 customers nationwide.
Originally an Essex girl (by birth not by character!) I have lived in Barnsley for nearly 18 years – I trained as a PA and worked in international banking as well as the media where I went onto become Charity Director for Help A Hallam Child. I have worked for BACP for over 3 years and have successfully achieved a Level 3 HR Diploma.
Alison Vint - Learning Champions Co-ordinator
alisonvint@yahoo.co.uk
I co-ordinate the Learning Champions project across the Barnsley borough. This involves working closely with Neighbourhood Learning Net Managers to recruit and induct volunteers and arrange learning opportunities for them.
I am now getting more involved with the Digital Inclusion agenda, working on the BBC run Help Scheme to ensure no-one is left behind following the Digital Switchover. I am also hoping to begin work shortly on the Everybody Online project. EverybodyOnline (EOL) is a national scheme that encourages communities in disadvantaged areas to understand how using computers, the internet and wider digital technology can benefit their everyday lives. This could include acquiring new skills, saving money, joining social networks, searching for a job, accessing government services or simply to keep in touch.
Digital Exclusion goes hand-in-hand with Social Exclusion. Statistics show that it is those most excluded from society that are likely to be the last to engage with digital technology, yet could benefit the most.
I previously worked in training and development for over 10 years delivering standards based contracts for clients such as Marks and Spencer and the West Yorkshire Fire Service. Following this, I was employed by Northern College to co-ordinate an innovative multi-agency outreach project in Barnsley. Following this I worked as a Learning Net Manager for the Fenton Community Partnership, before taking up my current role in 2007.

Amanda Bradshaw - Learning Net Manager
amandanln@hotmail.co.uk
I am responsible for organising learning opportunities and supporting learners within the Wombwell, Darfield and surrounding villages. I have worked for many years in the voluntary sector.
In 1993 I started working for the Workers Educational Association (W.E.A.), largest provider of adult learning in the voluntary sector. Firstly I worked as a part time tutor on their family learning programme, before moving into specific project work across South Yorkshire. My final years with the W.E.A were working in Darfield. I moved onto the Learning Net in 2007.

Claire Hoodless - Learning Net Admin
clairenln@hotmail.co.uk
I am the Administration Officer working alongside Amanda. I have worked in a finance and administration role for the past ten years. I worked for WJHB Community Partnership as core staff for the different projects, before moving onto the NLN project.
