Partnership Information
AimsTo improve the quality of life for people in the local area, by supporting and involving the community. This will be done by Economic Development, Education, training and social & environmental improvements. Although classed as low deprivation their are pocket of this throughout the Penistone area which we will endeavour to conquer.
Founded
March 2001
Started with 1 years KeyFund and presently writing a bid to Community Fund for a further 3 years funding for the part-time admin worker.
We have had short term funding, mainly for salaries, from SRB5 Block funds, Community Chest and NHF.
Activities- Liasing with the Penistone area hinterland (100 sq. miles) and seeking what is out there.
- Bringing clubs, groups & volunteers together.
- Putting in joint bids to assist in like type projects.
- Linking in to other funding projects i.e. Market Town initiative and Leader Plus Programme.
- Looking to develop an activity directory - working on tourism projects and linking in with all schools, clubs and groups for an overall holistic approach.
The office is run by the partnership co-ordinator and we employ a sports development worker. The office is shared by the current Market Town Initiative manager and the Leader Plus Co-ordinator. We all work closely together and they rent office space from the partnership. We have approximately 100 members.
